Dr. Samantha Koerner, ND

Naturopathic Doctor

I started out as a nurse. After earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I spent eight years working in hospitals, and I came away with a deep respect for what Western medicine does well, especially in emergencies, trauma, and surgery. But I kept running into its limits: very little preventive care, and not much to offer people living with chronic disease.

My own health was part of that picture. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease at eighteen, and while going gluten-free helped, I still didn’t feel well and my mental health suffered. I spent years looking for answers from conventional doctors and therapists before I found a chiropractor who practiced functional medicine. For the first time, someone was asking why I felt the way I did instead of simply managing my symptoms. That experience, along with my years in the hospital, is what led me to Bastyr University and to naturopathic medicine. I share this because I know what it’s like to be searching for answers and hope. You are not alone.

As a vitalistic naturopathic doctor, I see the mind, body, and spirit as one whole, and the nervous system is the bridge between them. It decides whether we move through life from a place of safety or survival, and when it stays stuck in “fight or flight,” it can show up as fatigue, pain, inflammation, hormone changes, or low mood. I believe nervous system regulation is a key part of all healing, especially with chronic dis-ease, because when the body feels safe, it knows how to heal.

That’s also why I think of the body as a guide. The same treatment plan rarely works the same way for two people, so instead of assuming what should help, I pay attention to what your body is telling us about what it needs and what it can handle right now. Tuning in to that shapes every plan I make.

Meeting you where you are is at the heart of my care. I lean most often on craniosacral therapy, Reiki, homeopathy, and flower essence therapy, gentle approaches that help the body shift from protection into repair. My goal in every visit is for you to feel seen, supported, and at ease. Healing isn’t about “fixing” what’s wrong. It’s about listening deeply and working with the body rather than against it.

It’s my privilege to bring my own experience and my training to this work and to walk alongside you toward feeling well again. Healing begins with safety. Let’s start where you are.
